Year 2003
An analemmatic or azimuth dial is completed at the church of the Apostolic Society in Vlissingen.
It was unveiled at the festive opening of the new church building on Sunday 16 March 2003.
Kevin van der Veen, twelve years old and 1.6 m tall, inaugurated the sundial by reading the hour at 12.25 standard time.
At that moment, children, as well as the previous and current Governors, loosed gold coloured balloons carrying address cards. A cheerful sight.

The hour markers, 6 through 21, lie on an ellipse of 4 by 5.11 meters.
Near the stone date scale, there is a separate stone slab with directions for use.
Triangular stones around the date scale represent the four points of the compass.
The area around the sundial is paved with square bricks.
The surrounding buildings prevent the dial from being fully sunlit at all times.
On Saturday 15 March 2003, the dial could be read from 10:15 until 16:00 hours.
Towards the summer, the irradiation will become more favourable.
