Work of our members

The town of Ootmarsum now offers - beside the gnomonic delicacies already present - a Zodiac Walk.
The twelve signs of the zodiac are depicted at or near twelve workshops.
One of these works of art is a design by our member Bote Holman. The sign of Libra, which the Sun occupies from 23 September up to 23 October, inspired it.
The work was created in association with artist Do Bloemen van Lith.

About Libra, it reads:

The Sign of Libra, like this work or art, indicates balance.
At the start of its reign, on 23 September, day and night each last twelve hours exactly. The sun is then on the equator.
The bronze sphere admits a sunbeam around XII hours apparent time.
During the reign of Libra, up to 23 October, this beam illuminates the "moon disk".
