In 2001, work was started on the modernisation of 241 post-war houses in Tuindorp, Schiedam, under the motto:
"Grey to Yellow".

A sundial was unveiled on the completion of the project in 2003. This is the design sketch of the sundial:

The sundial indicates local apparent time.
The Roman numerals are made of grey Perspex, tailored to the width of the shingles. The design purposely vertically spaces the numerals an integral number of shingles apart.
