Spherical sundial

Our member Fer Wilbrink is a professional sundial maker. Among the several types are spherical sundials.
The sphere is usually made of marble in several colours, but full metal spheres are possible.
The hour ring and the meridian are always made of metal.
Here are some examples of these sundials with a diameter of 10 centimetres.

A much larger specimen was recently placed in a private garden in Oss.
This sundial has a diameter of 40 centimetres.
The sundial is a beautiful addition to the splendid garden.

The sundial is read by turning the rotating meridian so that its shadow is narrowest.
The meridian is then in the hour plane of the sun, and indicates the time on the hour ring.
