What is the ideal location for a vertical sundial? Your neighbour’s house is!
This was the situation when member Harry Bult’s opposite neighbour asked him to make a sundial for his house.
The house in question was excellently suited for a large sundial in the traditional style.
The photograph shows the result of the skill of the maker.
The sundial was made of wood and painted in several layers.
The exquisitely carved style triangle shows the initials of the occupants of the house.
The style triangle and the sun are gilded.
The photograph was taken at an exhibition where this sundial was temporarily on display. Because of this, the colours did not come out quite natural.
It is plain, however, that this is a fine piece of work.
End sepetmber 2006 the sundial is placed at its definitive spot. Below a photograph is shown.
