Horizontal Table Sundial

The picture above shows the components of a small table sundial; the one below shows the assembled sundial.

The sundial was built in 1988, using various materials.
The octagonal sundial itself is made of silver, the pedestal of ebony.

The compass is housed in a gilded compass chamber.

The sundial provides for two time systems: apparent solar time and central European time.
Seven date lines, for the twelve signs of the zodiac, indicate the date.
Around the compass is a scale according to the zodiac indicating the equation of time.
