Amsterdam

A shadow plane sundial is built on the monumental table.
For each hour, there are a cube and an hour line. The numerals on top of the cubes indicate the appropriate hours.
When the shadow of a cube falls exactly on the associated line, it indicates the whole hour.
The sundial reads summer time (DST).

On every hour line there is a dot. On 1 November (a significant date in relation to this monument), the shadow of a specific corner of the associated cube will fall on this dot.

The cubes are made of wood and brass. The hour lines are inlaid brass strips.
