Horizontal nodus dial

The flag post in the centre of this plaza sundial is just the support for the horizontal disk, which is the actual shadow caster.
This disk throws a circular shadow. One reads the sundial in the centre of this shadow.

The sundial is on the round forecourt of the ‘Unigarant’ insurance company building in Hoogeveen.
The diameter of this court is approximately 30 meters.

The pattern exists of hour lines for summer and winter time, and date lines for the beginning of each of the four seasons.
There are no numerals or date indications. See the design sketch at the bottom of this page.

The sundial is easily found in Google Earth. Its coordinates are
52.72 N, 6.47 E.

This is the original design sketch; north is up.
The court slopes lightly for drainage.
This slope is not exactly north to south, and so the equinox line is not exactly east to west.
