In 1991, our member Jacob Borsje constructed eleven sundials on a dodecahedron.
The dodecahedron is made of 2 mm thick steel plate, and has edges of 74 mm.
All styles and gnomons are made of brass.
The twelve-faced body is supported by five sea horses, who in earlier days served as parts of a cooker.
Together with other decorative elements, the whole stands on metal base of 60 cm tall.
The dials were silk-screened onto white vinyl and then stuck to the different faces of the dodecahedron.
There are style triangles on two of the faces. On the remainder there are gnomons.
The sundial has lines for apparent solar time and for Italian and Babylonian hours; and date curves for the beginning of the four seasons.
The horizontal dial on top has four extra date curves, reminding of the birthdays of members of the Borsje family.
On one of the dial faces we can read the motto SOL ME PROBET UNUS (let the sun alone test me). )
