In a book by Bedos de Celles of 1790, there is a picture of a west declining sundial on the Abbey of St. Denis in France.
The sundial is dated 1765.
In 1984, this picture served as an example for a wrought-iron sundial in Zwijndrecht.
The sundial, shown below, was adapted to the local latitude and the slightly greater declination of the wall.
Its display is again local apparent time, and there is an equation-of-time loop around the noon hour line.
The perforated Sun on the pole style is the accompanying index.
Dark trails surround the cream-coloured sundial, and here and there some gold leaf is used.
