Our member Feike van der Boom made this double horizontal sundial.
The black sundial reads standard time, the lighter daylight saving time; neither taking into account the equation of time.
The hours are indicated by stainless steel balls. The ball for 12 o’clock is bigger.
There are no hour numerals; one counts from the ‘12’ ball.
The gnomon is a bracket, making the pole style well supported.
Interestingly, the black block of granite is purposely made 5 mm higher and 3 mm wider than the lighter block.
This makes the blocks appear to the eye as equally large.
