Sundial of the month May

Stained glass sundial, Oxford

On the fifteenth anniversary of the British Sundial Society, BSS, the American sculptor John Carmichael in 2004 designed and made a stained glass sundial for Oxford, England.
The sundial is really a demonstration model, showing how stained glass sundials may be made using modern materials and techniques.
The model is available for one of the visitors to the anniversary conference of April 2004.

Notice the painted fly, which is an age-old tradition.

The gnomon attachment is on a gilded copper disk. This is a stronger fix than the former method directly to the glass.
