Year 2004
On the occasion of the annual excursion of De Zonnewijzerkring in June 2004 to Friesland, a temporary sundial was built.
It is a cord and spar sundial, established in the splendid garden of Vijversburg House in Tietjerk, where it stood for several weeks.

The sundial
The idea of building a sundial using simple materials is due to William (Bill) S. Maddux.
A comprehensive paper by him on such constructions, in English, is on the Internet site of our member Fer de Vries, under the title "Cord and spar sundials".

The builders
The sundial was built by members of Scout troop "De Brimzen" in Buitenpost.
They constructed a splendid sundial of some posts and a goodly supply of rope.
