In a renovation project of a Helmond residential area, a large terrace sundial was placed.
With a children’s playground and surrounded with benches, it is a quiet haven in the district.
There are hour lines in the pavement for all 24 hours, although clearly this is more than strictly necessary.
The dial shows civil time (MEST), but as an extra, there is a grey north-south line, enabling one to read true local noon.
Finally, points on the hour lines indicate the three date curves for the beginnings of the four seasons. A circular disk on the gnomon serves as the nodus.
There is a comprehensive explanation of this sundial on both sides of the pretty gnomon support.
