Sundial of the month January

South-west declining vertical sundial

The Royal Palace of Soestdijk is no longer occupied. The buildings and gardens are now a museum, and are publicly accessible.
While visiting there in the summer of 2009, Wiel Coenen discovered, at the rear of the main building, a sundial that was unknown to us.

The sundial declines about 63 degrees from south to west, and indicates local apparent time.
The hour line pattern for the afternoon hours looks all right, but the hour line for XI hours is clearly incorrect.

We have no information about this sundial, but we are attempting to get pertinent data from the Government Building Department.

Address: Soestdijk Palace, Amsterdamsestraatweg 1, Soestdijk.
