Sundial of the month February

Book Dial

In 1998, a sundial in the shape of an open book was placed on the small square in front of St. Catherine Church in Ledeacker, North Brabant.
Its creator is Juul Baltussen, an ornamental metalworker from nearby Westerbeek.
The sundial is made of iron and painted bronze.
The overlaid hour numerals are made of bronze.
The dimensions of the book are approximately 35 cm x 70 cm (14” x 28”).

The middle page is in the meridian plane.
The two other pages should have angles of 45 degrees, but the photo shows that the left page is bent.

Another book sundial is shown below.
This is in the Maarten van Rossum Museum in Zaltbommel, and it is probably several centuries old.
It is made of wood, with metal pages, and measures approximately 24 cm x 24 cm (9½” x 9½”).
